“I think a fitting analogy for my music-making

process would be playing a game of Tetris.

Once I select a sample I like, I carefully match it with

other instrumental and vocal samples by adjusting

the pitch or tempo to create a cohesive track.”

Born on April 25, 1980, DXWAVE grew up in Korea, heavily influenced by the retro sounds of 80s and 90s American music. They started their musical journey by learning guitar during elementary school, drawing inspiration from legendary guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, Larry Carlton, and Jeff Beck. Initially dreaming of becoming a guitarist, DXWAVE later fell in love with sampling and electronic music production, inspired by house music pioneers such as Daft Punk, Avicii, and Martin Garrix. This led them to transition into a composer, producer, and DJ, now composing and arranging music across various genres like house, electro-pop, synthwave, and lo-fi.

The album is filled with tracks that evoke a cozy, healing atmosphere, replicating the comforting sound of analog tape. DXWAVE composes and arranges music with an exploratory approach, without being confined to a specific genre, and explores a wide spectrum of genres.

Based on electronic music genres like house and disco, DXWAVE presents a rich and dynamic variety of musical styles by mixing analog and digital sounds.

Their musical inspiration comes from real-life experiences, focusing on reinterpreting classic songs through sampling to create new music. Influenced by artists like Michael Jackson and Daft Punk, DXWAVE expresses the idea that “all art is interconnected” through their unique musical approach.
